Project Description
Case Study: RTO for Tier 1 Automotive Supplier
The CMM Group recently completed the installation and commissioning of a new Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) for a Tier 1 automotive supplier in the Southeast United States.
The facility was under mounting pressure from the EPA after its existing air pollution control equipment fell out of compliance. Following an initial inquiry through CMM’s website, our engineers conducted an on-site assessment and determined that a new RTO was the right long-term solution.
CMM engineered a 15,000 scfm RTO specifically designed to utilize the facility’s existing concrete pad and connect to existing process ductwork — minimizing installation costs and project timeline. The system was specified to achieve ≥98% Destruction Efficiency and ≥95% Thermal Efficiency, with a structured ceramic media bed design that further reduces facility electrical costs.
CMM delivered a scope of supply, including:
- Installation of a 15,000 scfm RTO system
- ≥98% Destruction Efficiency / ≥95% Thermal Efficiency
- Inlet filter box with pressure transmitters
- Free-standing exhaust stack
- Climate-controlled electrical control room
- Remote monitoring and data collection
Following mechanical completion, CMM technicians fully commissioned the system and provided comprehensive operator training before turnover. Shortly after startup, the facility conducted a third-party compliance stack test — and exceeded permit requirements.
With full regulatory confidence restored, the facility is now operating at 100% production capacity. The reliability of CMM’s equipment, backed by ongoing service and engineering support, is allowing the facility to stay focused on its financial and sustainability objectives.
